Coffee & Planning

Book club will meet at Borders for the month of April.

The book we are planning to read and discuss in the month of May is March by Geraldine Brooks.  March is the father of the little women that we all read about or watched on television.  Emily will host the May book club in La Plata.  I’ll have her send out directions closer to the date.

Listen to Geraldine Brooks in a NPR interview to learn more about the book.

Out of Wintery Rest

Spring is almost here! We are well into our new year of reading with selection ideas looking great. We have even picked up a new member. Thanks Emily for joining us in our discussions. If anyone else is interested in joining, we’d love to let you jump right in with a book choice. So here is the plan for hosting…

Mar Trudy    Apr Borders    May Emily     Jun Janice     Jul Sharon    Aug Julie    Sep Bertha    Oct Laura

Now check out that planning! So here is the line up.

March 24th at 7:00- Trudy chose the book A Hope in the Unseen.  Ron Suskind conducted hundreds of interviews with Cedric, an inner city kid on his way through Ivy League.  Cedric could have easily been a target for violence because he excelled in school.  Cedric’s story shows that the most important step (in life) is to become comfortable in one’s own skin (Memphisreads.blogspot.com).

April 28th at 7:00- Borders, coffee and book perusing! We can meet at Laura’s around 6:30 and car pool.

May 26th at 7:00- Emily has chosen March: A Novel by Geraldine Brooks

Listen to Geraldine Brooks talk to NPR’s Melissa Block about her inspirations for writing about this absent father Mr. March  of the classic story Little Women.
